Online Consultation FAQs

1. How can you treat me without touching me?

Most people’s traditional view of rehab therapy is that it always needs to involve “hands on” treatment.

However, in reality, this is not always the case.

All appointments start with a ‘subjective assessment’, in which I will ask you a series of questions designed to discover what I need to know about your injury (without touching you). By the end of the subjective assessment, I should already have a very clear idea of your probable issue. I may then perform some tests or ask you to perform certain movements, and will then assess your feedback regarding these.

If I am ever unsure of anything, I will not hesitate to refer you for a hands-on assessment or your GP.

When it comes to injury and pain management, educating you about your issue, identifying contributing factors from your lifestyle, as well as providing you with a personalised exercise program, are some of the most important things we can do to help you get back on track.

This puts you in much more control of your own recovery.

Research has shown that outcomes can be effective through online consultations, due to the empowering nature of the system.

Naturally, if I feel you have an injury that requires “hands on” treatment, I will let you know!

2. How much is an Online Consultation?

£30 (GBP) and takes approximately 45 Minutes. 

3. What technology do I need for an Online Consultation?

You can use any PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone. You just need to make sure that your camera can be moved around if you have to change position. I may also need you to position the camera so that I can see your whole body or at least the relevant area.

4. What platforms may be used for the consultation?

Zoom – works on iphones, android and laptops. The Zoom App needs to be downloaded but an account is not required.

WhatsApp – no registration is required but not as high quality as Zoom.

Facetime – requires registration.

I personally recommend Zoom which is a free download. This can be downloaded onto your PC, laptop, tablet, or phone on Android or Apple formats.

Please make sure you have downloaded the relevant app ahead of your appointment, so you have time to be ready for your consultation. Please make sure the camera and microphone buttons are switched on. I recommend playing with the app so you are familiar with it beforehand.

5. Do I need WiFi for the video consultation?

You will need access to the Internet either through WiFi or the data allowance on your mobile phone.

WiFi is recommended to achieve the best possible connection.

6. What else will I need for my video consultation?

You just need a little space in a quiet room.

You may need to wear shorts and a vest top, depending on the area of the body to be examined.

7. Is my injury suitable for an Online Consultation?

The majority of Musculoskeletal Injuries are suitable for an Online Consultation. However, this is the reason I ask you to complete an in-depth questionnaire beforehand to ensure this is the case for you personally.

If I determine that your injury or situation is not at all suitable for an Online Consultation I will let you know, and refund the cost of the consultation (if you have already paid).

8. Will you tell me if I need to see someone in person or visit my doctor?


While there are many issues that can be managed via an Online Consultation, some conditions do require ‘hands on’ assessment and treatment.

My assessment process allows me to identify when an issue requires face to face investigation.

9. If you give me exercises to do, how will I know if I’m doing them right?

The wonders of modern technology open up a whole world of possibility.

We will go through the exercises either during your consult (or I will arrange a follow up to go through them).

I will also send your programme through via email with exercise descriptions and illustrated by photo or video, so often this makes things very clear.

However, should you ever feel unsure, you can email me anytime, possibly attaching a photo or video of yourself doing the exercise/s for me to check them for you.

10. How do I arrange an Online Consultation?

11. How do I pay for the Online Consultation?

Payment is to be prior to the consultation by BACS payment.

Alternatively I can send a link for you to pay Online should you need it (again this needs to be paid prior to the appointment).

12. Do you accept health insurance ?

Unfortunately I do not accept Health Insurance at this moment in time.

13. Do I need a referral to use your service?

No, you do not need a referral to have an Online Consultation with me.

14. I am located outside of the UK, can I use your service?

If you are not currently located in the UK, unfortunately I cannot provide this service to you at this moment in time.
